Burkard Hellbach opened the first NK Discount Shop in Essen-Rüttenscheid. |

1976: |
NKD built a 30,000 mē central warehouse in Bindlach, near Bayreuth. |

|
1987: |
The Company celebrated its 25th anniversary. The 300th shop was opened. |
|
|
1989: |
NKD already had 500 mini-price-markets. |
|
|
1990: |
NKD expanded its activities in Eastern Germany. |
|
|
1992: |
The new headquarters were completed in Bindlach. |
|
|
1993: |
The stores belonging to the "Konsumgesellschaften" in Cottbus and Dresden were taken-over. |

1995: |
NKD expanded in Austria. The 100 shops belonging to Herz TPS Austria are taken over by NKD. |

2003: |
NKD Vertriebs GmbH was taken over by Daun & Cie. AG. |

2004: |
All the 230 shops in Austria are renamed NKD. For the first time NKD ranked among the top 20 among German textile retailers in terms of turnover. NKD now had 1,000 shops in Germany and Austria. 65 new shops were opened following the take-over of the H+E shops of the Hummel & Edenhofer Handels-GmbH & Co. KG. |

NKD opened 34 new shops. These had belonged to the insolvent company Alltex-Eisel GmbH & Co. KG, and are now part of the NKD shop network. |

2006: |
NKD opened the first shop in Italy. |

2007: |
NKD opened its online shop. NKD now had 1,200 shops and 4,600 employees. |

2008: |
NKD opened the first shops in Slovenia. |

2009: |
NKD took over 20 shops belonging to the insolvent company Modehaus Keilbach. NKD took over 12 shops belonging to the insolvent company Adessa Moden GmbH. NKD opened the first shop in Switzerland. NKD purchased 35 shops belonging to the involvent German Woolworth Group. |

The NKD subsidiary Sun Fortune Ltd. took over the offices of the trade agency Goalmax in Suzhou near Shanghai. NKD opened the first shops in Croatia. NKD now had 1,600 shops and 7,000 employees. NKD opened the first shop in Poland. |
